A silvery-gray-white leaf, white urn-shaped flowers (white on white), pretty and edible light yellow-green berries, and rich red-brown bark. It does not like summer water, growing in shallow or sandy soils where rainfall in summer is scarce (native to the Santa Cruz mountains and old sand dunes) but will tolerate less than its most desired soils. Birds and hummingbirds like it! And I do, too — light and subtle, against deep burgundy bark — the perfect contrast plant. "Evergray"
