A very large Arctostaphylos, up to 12 feet tall and wide, with mahogany twisting branches and large, light green, slightly fuzzy leaves more than 2 inches long, pointed, and densely arranged. Its large, thick clusters of white urn-shaped flowers have a slight, pretty pink blush, and give way to red-orange berries. Endemic to California, San Mateo to Santa Cruz in the Bay area hill, it's named for King's Mountain on the lower peninsula.
