A Buckthorn family member, this Ceanothus is endemic to California coastlines north and south of San Francisco. It has tiny, evergreen, glossy leaves with heavily toothed margins and a dense, low mounding growth that's weed-suppressing. In spring it's absolutely flocked with frothy light blue flowers, a boon to bees and butterflies. This Ceanothus enjoys some summer water and protection from hot afternoon sun.
