A large-flowering Dianthus at 2 inches, this one, white with deep burgundy center and petal edges, is reminiscent of perhaps an Elizabethan collar. With a heady scent of cloves, plant it where your nose can find it and dead-head for continual bloom through summer and into fall. Good drainage is necessary for a healthy plant, and an occasional top-dress of compost will keep it blooming well. The flowers nestle in the tops of silvery-green, upright grassy foliage that forms a 15" wide evergreen mat.
