Nearly spurless flowers with red outer sepals and pale yellow, nested, inner sepals bloom in early spring. Toothed leaves are cherry-red as they emerge, becoming green for summer, then red again in fall. This cross is a result of biracial parenting, one from Japan (E. grandiflorum) —as far east as Epimediums are found, and one from what is now Slovenia —as far west as Epimediums are found. Deciduous, 12" tall.
