A living fossil dating 270 million years old, the Ginkgo has unique, fan-shaped, leathery leaves with radiating veins. The species form is pyramidal to rounded, open, and uniquely textural. Autumn turns the leaves a rich golden-yellow, and after a frost, they will carpet the ground simultaneously. The resulting pool of yellow is a singular visual delight on a cloudy day.
Six ginkgos were among the few living things to survive within 1–2 km of the atomic blast at Hiroshima in 1945, conferring upon them a most-deserved reputation for tenacity. All our Ginkgos are male, so there will be no fruit. Ultimately 66 – 115 feet.
