Endemic to the Siskiyou Mountains and North Umpqua River, Kalmiopsis has small, bright evergreen leaves and clusters of light rose upside down umbrellas that sport prominent stamens and anthers. It will bloom from late spring to summer, showing off a profusion of starburst flowers. This is a rare and ancient member of the heath family. At home in rocky well-drained soils, accompany with Arctostaphylos and Quercus vaccinifolia. Some water is fine as long as the soil is very well-draining.
