In late fall, long, lightly scented yellow spikes explode like fireworks over an upright, evergreen shrub. These especially early and stunning blooms are followed by blue-black berries loved by birds. The foliage, glossy and spiny, appears very organized — appropriate for the ornamentally-inclined as well as anyone who's worried they might end up with a scrappy, scraggly Mahonia. Summertime moisture and partial shade are best for this cultivar. 8'T x 6'W
