The intricate puzzle-work of white, orange, olive, light purple, and silver bark is definitely worth waiting for (about 10 years, give or take). Eventually, at maturity, it becomes milky-white. Short dark green needles in bundles of three 2-4" long, and a small 2-inch yellowish-brown cone clothe this round-headed, often multi-trunked pine. My first encounter with this was at the Denver Botanical Garden. It made me hyperventilate. Native to central and northern China. 30 – 50' T x 20 – 35' WMinimum temperature: -30° F
