Slightly fragrant 2-inch crepey white flowers have yellow stamens and bloom profusely in summer. Leaves are somewhat larger than Stewartia pseudocamellia and the smooth brown and purple bark can be made more visible with a little judicious pruning of this somewhat dense and shrubby small tree, 20 feet tall. (Its unusual, glowing, iridescent fall color is pictured.)Minimum temperature: -20° F
