The bark of the mature tree is smooth except near the base where it sheds in long peeling strips revealing reds, greys, yellows, oranges, or pinks. It eventually forms a lignotuber at the base of trunk: a wide, round, woody growth at or below soil line. Cool. The mature leaves, blue-grey with a waxy bloom, are narrow and sickle-shaped. The fruits are those fragrant nobby, nubbly globules, hence "globulus." Evergreen.
Mature size: In its native Southeastern Australia it can reach 100+ ft tall. Expect much shorter in the PNW.
