Early spring fragrant, white star-shaped flowers in clusters of about 12 on a tall scape. Mature bulbs can have 3 or more scapes. Long, wide grey-green leaves emerge in spring, then wither and go dormant after blooms fade.
Native to Corsica, Sardinia and the Capraia Islands of Tuscany, Pancratium illyricum grows on rocky slopes and sparse woodland areas.
