Pesticide Policy
Plants we propagate and grow here at Dancing Oaks Nursery comprise the majority of our inventory, and on those plants we do not use any neonicotinoids* or other bee-toxic pesticides. We do rely heavily on natural pest controls such as introduced beneficial predators and parasitoids in our greenhouses.
We buy a smaller percentage of our plants from wholesale growers. We are communicating with those suppliers to establish their pesticide usage, and to encourage them to discontinue the use of neonicotinoids and other pesticides that have long-term negative effects on pollinators and other vulnerable wildlife.
If you have a question about the origin of a specific plant on our website or at our nursery, don't hesitate to ask!
* Not familiar with neonicotinoids? Read more info here from the Xerces Society.
