Selected for the garden and introduced by Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden.  Very few shrubs have as many excellent attributes as this exceedingly handsome, small  dome-shaped shrub. Dapper red stems, new growth flushed red, and in early spring, profuse pearl-pink flowers followed by orange-red berries! Extremely tough, impervious to drought, likes well-drained soil with no summer water in full sun to light shade. EASY and VERY cold hardy.
