Warm and bright umbels of yellow blooms float atop upright to reclining stems with lance shaped leaves. Flowers emerge late spring through summer, just be sure to remember where you've planted this herbaceous perennial year to year! Asclepias tuberosa are drought-tolerant un-fussy plants keen on full sun and popular with pollinators. Take care not to overwater and this milkweed will tolerate a variety of poor soils and tough sites. Clump forming (1-2 ft), may self-sow from seed if pods are not collected -- new seedlings can take a couple of years to set blooms. The dried pods are popular in cut arrangements and can look beautiful left in the garden as well.
