A creeping, dense, woody-based perennial, 'Elfin' makes a pretty and tough ground cover. Though thyme has been an integral part of the cuisines from whence it comes — Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa — this one is not the culinary thyme, Thymus vulgaris. Stems are clad with tiny, glossy green leaves, variably aromatic according to conditions, and it is evergreen. Very cold-tolerant.
'Elfin' is virtually covered with tiny pink flowers in early spring, to the delight and ecstasy of bees (honey and bumble) and butterflies. 1 – 2 inches T x 1 – 2 feet W
