A pretty, variegated, deciduous vine, it grows relatively slowly but is always lovely. New leaves, coming on throughout the season, are splashed with cream, white, and a little bit of pink variegation against dark green. Fuzzy, white, early summer lace cap flowers become shiny black fruit, and when not in leaf, the reddish, exfoliating stems of the climbing hydrangea are also interesting. Notably, this Hydrangea manages everything from sunshine to shade, but optimum conditions might be part shade with little to no afternoon sun. From Japan.
