One of the largest blooming slipper orchids with the rounded part of the flower nearly the size of a hen's egg! Comprised of cream to soft yellow rounded pouch flanked by two spiraling petals, up to 4 inches long, of mottled greenish-purple contrasted with wavy sepals of plum-brown. Found in the damp woodlands of Kentucky, Virginia, and surrounding states, this hardy orchid appreciates moist woodland soils. Rarely found in the wild due to habitat loss, though quite hardy if properly situated.
Protect from excessive winter moisture.
