With dark purple, wide open "bells" and silvery highlights, this is a non-vining, woody-stemmed perennial that reaches 6'. Weave its decumbent form into an obliging neighboring shrub to help support it, and people will wonder which plant is producing those exquisite blooms. Flowering late May to mid-August, the blooms, 3–4 inches across when fully open, are composed of four to six slightly twisted tepals. The seed heads are just as attractive: silvery puffs.Minimum temperature: -20° F
