Pleated light green leaves that are longer than wide hug the ground while 12-16 inch stalks of showy orchid flowers rise to delight those passing by in spring. These orchids are happy in the woodland garden with light shade or dappled light. At best, the soil should be a rich woodsy mix on a berm or slope. A pleasing companion with ferns, Disporum, Disporopsis, Saruma, Hostas, etc. It is listed as an evergreen perennial but in our garden that seems to be a stretch with the leaves looking quite tattered by late winter.
