Parentage: Cistus 'Snow Fire' (syn. 'Snowfire') is a hybrid of Cistus x dansereaui 'Decumbens', Cistus inflatus, and Cistus populifolius subsp. major. It was selected by Eric Sammons from the UK who was arguably The Cistus breeder. It has Cistus ladanifer in its family tree as Cistus x dansereaui 'Decumbens' is a cross of Cistus ladanifer and Cistus inflatus. 'Snow Fire' gets beautiful red spots from the ladanifer but more cold hardiness and less susceptibility to root rot from other relatives.
