This verdant woodland jewel is native throughout forested areas of Canada, Oregon and Washington where it creates a charming 6" carpet of diminutive dogwood. Oval, pointed leaves with impressed parallel veins are punctuated by tiny, purple-grey flowers surrounded by their more noticeable, springtime bright white bracts looking like large snowflakes freshly landed. Bright red berries form in fall, equally conspicuous. A shaded, moist site with excellent drainage and forest duff is required for it to thrive and colonize.
