Native to eastern and central North America, Dodecatheon meadia is a relatively easy plant to grow since it is tolerant of clay as well as woodland soil. Always anxious to please, it will also bloom white, pink, or purple, one inch flowers on multiple 1.5' reddish scapes rising from a basal cluster of lance-shaped leaves. The nodding flowers have reflexed or swept up petals and a dark "beak" pointing earthward. Winter moist, summer dry. 1.5' T x 1' W
