A rare Chinese species, this Enkianthus has April and May pendent umbels of white, rounded, urn-shaped flowers, the largest of the genus. E. serrulatus will NOT have a regular, vase-shaped form like Enkianthus campanulatus and its cultivars. E. serrulatus will likely grow into an asymmetrical, idiosyncratic, sculptural form — wait and watch how it decides to branch over the years.
