This smaller hybrid was created by Ken Taylor of Aromas, California and is thought to be a cross of Fremontodendron califronica ssp. decumbens and Fremontodendron 'California Glory'. 'Ken Taylor' grows between 4'– 6' tall and 8'– 10' wide, can be pruned to maintain smaller size, and is perhaps a bit hardier than the species. Evergreen fuzzy leaves with rounded lobes and large golden yellow flowers bloom for months on end! (Not for the petting zoo — the fine hairs can be an irritant.)
