Unusual, narrow, green, willow-like leaves scatter up & down the tall, reddish, glossy stems. Long, outward-facing, tubular red blooms with purple centers will tempt the hummingbirds to visit.
Where temps stay above 15° F, it will vine up a friendly, neighboring shrub or trellis sometimes reaching 7 ft tall. If you live in a cooler zone than this, the fuchsia will go dormant in winter, and then in spring it will sprout new, arching stems reaching 4 ft tall...but it will still appreciate a little vertical support to look its best. Small edible berry-like fruit develop in the fall.
