Another gift from Chile, this hardy lobelia has exotic, tropical-looking vermillion flowers above soft grey-green, broad, tobacco-like leaves. Expect a long bloom time in midsummer on tall, upright stems, unlike many lobelias more commonly grown, Lobelia tupa will not be flimsy and flop over. Spreads to form a spectacular colony - give her space, folks. Drought-tolerant, too!

Performs best in a dry and full sun site. Water weekly (or twice a week if 85°F +) for the first summer or two. It will tolerate our Willamette Valley heavy clay if given proper drainage. It does not like to sit in winter (or summer) water. Providing mulch cover during the winter months will help young plants' hardiness levels.

Carefully packed for each plant

Once your order is ready, we bring the plants from our greenhouses into a holding area. Each plant is wrapped by hand and, when needed, staked to protect tender stems. Because our inventory is so diverse, we adjust the packing method for each plant based on its size, type, and stage of growth.

We reuse clean paper and plastic packing materials whenever practical. It is easier on the planet and helps keep shipping costs down for you, too.
