Fragrant clusters of pale lilac flowers bloom in late spring on upward branching stems. 3-inch, ornamental, elliptical, silvery fruit, moon-like in appearance (hence Lunaria) follow. Native to woodlands of Eastern Europe and Russia. These pictures were taken in situ in the woods of Slovenia in April of 2017.
Best grown in light shade in rich soils with regular water during the summer. Full sun is tolerated in northern areas with regular summer rain.
