This rare beauty is easy to grow if given rich soil that is allowed to dry out between generous waterings. Its blue, goblet-shaped, 6-petaled flowers rise up on 2 ft tall, strong stems. The flowers have 3 large blue-lavender petals alternating with 3, tiny petals with splotches of white, yellow, and blue. So elegant yet showy! Each bloom lasts a day, but the bloom cycle can last from mid-summer through early fall. A member of the Iris family, Phalocallis coelestis is native to Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.
