Large palmate leaves, with notched leaf margins, form a mounding architectural backdrop in the shade garden. Foliage emerges bronze-green in the spring, maturing to deep green, followed by a fall display of bronze-red. Attractive plumes of creamy Astilbe-like flowers provide a spring floral display. Found along streams in the woodlands of Japan and Korea. Provide moist humus-rich soil and plant in dappled shade.
