From a seedling in a garden in Stanwell, Middlesex, England, this one has THE quintessential rose fragrance. Like rosewater; like rose incense; like ROSE! Medium-sized soft pink double blossoms open continuously over several months seeming to get richer in color as the season progresses. If you're lucky, it can produce flowers up until December! Full and arching, it's tolerant of all kinds of conditions including part shade. It's uncomplaining and always generous. A favorite of the Victorians, the Edwardians, and Gertrude Jekyll, herself! In 1994 Graham Stuart Thomas called it a "most treasured possession." Include yourself in this long line of connoisseurs. Its forté is the scent, so no need for showy rose hips, and that's good because it doesn't have any. Who cares with performance like that!
