Quite showy, double purple-pink flowers bloom on bare, tan-colored branches in spring. Early in the season, the canes are a fetching bright green. This native selection was previously sold as 'Flore Pleno' and true to its native riparian haunts, it appreciates regular summer water. What a day it would be to stumble across this while hiking in the mountains. My thanks go to someone with a keen eye for the discovery and for sharing it with the rest of us.
The compact arrangement of the flower's petals makes pollination difficult. The bees cannot imbibe during happy hour at the pistil and stamen bar. This is not a selection to grow for the delicious golden fruit.
