Dark purple-black buds open in mid-late spring to reveal plentiful silvery-lavender, sweetly fragrant panicles on this Manchurian lilac cultivar. It's a medium-sized shrub: compact, with a rounded form. In fall the small green elliptic leaves turn burgundy. It needs good air circulation so don't place other plants too close for comfort. Prompt removal of faded flowers before seed set will increase bloom in the following year. It's a real sweetheart. Tolerates deer and clay; deciduous.
