This South American native is a fantastic point of interest to plant in a pot or the ground in climates with mild winter conditions. Thick velvety green leaves with stems of orange provide an alluring backdrop for the lovely lilac-colored blooms.  Flowers from summer to fall are appreciated by bees and butterflies.  The red new growth and buds provide color before the blooms. Quickly reaching heights of 4-5 ft tall.  Sun to part shade. Protect from heavy frosts.
