This Tilia has large, dark grey-green leaves (up to 5 inches long) with toothed serrations and medium-green undersides. The new foliage emerges as a handsome dark, bronze-green. In early summer, drooping clusters of fragrant, yellow-white blooms extend beyond the leaf tips. These flowers are an excellent source of nectar for native bees and honey bees. The blooms are followed by clusters of nutlets that whirl on the wind thanks to an attached single, propellor-like bract. Slow-growing but worth the wait!
