Heart-shaped leaves emerge dark-purple to make a lush appearance and hold their color, much more reliably than the classic 'Forest Pansy' before turning green in late summer. A Redbud hybrid bred by Dr. Dennis Werner and introduced in 2009 by North Carolina State University in conjunction with the JC Ralston Arboretum. Expect a tree that can handle a wide variety of soils while needing less water thanks to the addition of C. texensis. Purported to have extra disease resistance.
