A slow-growing, deciduous dwarf shrub that becomes a 3' tall mound when mature, 'Platt' prefers moist, acidic, organically-rich soils in full sun or part shade. White, bottlebrush-like blooms appear on the tips of bare stems from April–May. Blue-green leaves become yellow, red, and orange in autumn!

Fothergilla gardenii is native to moist lowland coastal plain bogs and savannahs in the southeastern U.S. from North Carolina to the Florida panhandle and Alabama.
