Hybrid Acanthus between A. mollis and A. spinosus, introduced by the Beth Chatto Gardens.
Acanthus is an amazing deer-resistant perennial whose large, glossy, deep green foliage adds interest even without the dramatic flower spikes. They can take a variety of conditions, but in dry summers, they are best grown in bright shade with regular water. 'Collin's Folly' has particularly lovely blooms with large, soft purple bracts around white tubular flowers.
