Mat-forming gray-green basal rosettes spreading by red stolons give rise to a cloud of small pink flowers atop long stems in August — a good rock garden candidate desirous of well-drained, lean, gritty soil. It has low water requirements after becoming established, but not a true DRY garden groundcover. The geometric spiral rosettes are a case study for the Golden Section.
