This A. manzanita was found as a lucky seedling following one of the California fires. We planted over 5 clones from cuttings throughout our dry garden and were gobsmacked at their rate of growth. They were the fastest-growing manzanitas we had ever planted. We trial manzanitas directly in our native soils in a flat meadow and up on 1-2 ft berms. 'Rocket Man' has exceeded expectations in both conditions. It's a typical A. manzanita with large oval green leaves, and the pink blooms in late winter to early spring have only added to its charm. Clean winter foliage.
Planted in November 2022, it had grown to 4 x 4 by July 2024. The last photo shows early winter color on a young plant.
