A low-growing, sprawling evergreen shrub, it's ideal for covering slopes to control erosion, and its holly-like foliage makes it resistant to your local grazers. It provides dense cover for habitat, nice evergreen foliage — tiny, shiny leaves — and lavender-blue flowers in spring. Prefers a well-drained site, whether moist or dry.
At our location on the edge of the coastal range, an established plant does not require supplemental summer water even in full hot sun, but those more inland might.
