A densely-branching, broadly pyramidal form with a strong central leader, this Corylus has copper bark dramatically exfoliating to cream, much as a river birch, and lovely, long catkins draping the then leafless tree. This is one for the many looking for a mid-size tree, handsomely regular, pink-tinged in spring and brilliant gold in fall, interesting in winter with its papery bark, and marvelous for shade—an all-season tree! From the mountain valley forests of Western China, it is as yet uncommon, only introduced in 1996. 25–30' T x 15–25' W, disease-resistant.
