Clusters of blue flowers with reflexed petals bloom in early through mid-summer, becoming Gentian-blue fruit in late fall. The berries are enjoyed by birds. With acidic soil, the flowers will be dark blue, and light blue in alkaline soils — both very pretty. Protect from cold, drying winds in winter. A Hydrangea cousin and a native from Nepal to China.
Evergreen in warmer climates. At our location in the Willamette Valley, it is deciduous.
