From Darrell Probst (2004), this hybrid blooms prolifically in April and May with purple, white-spurred flowers. The spurs are held almost horizontally making the flowers seem to hover. Elongated heart-shaped leaves with spiny edges emerge heavily speckled with russet to red-orange and retain their color while the flowers bloom in showers above. Evergreen.*
