Sprays of summer-long, magenta flowers bloom over a mound of ferny foliage. Disliking acid soil, it's good for a rock garden or trough where it can get a little lime from concrete or well-chosen stone; it comes from the limestone mountains of the Mediterranean. Blooms can last well into fall.
