Small, paired, glossy, elliptic leaves clad this 6–15' shrub from Tasmania. A great range of sizes was seen in its native environment, some more open with age and height, more dense when young; in any case, it is a shrub/tree more tall than wide. Conditions will be deterministic of size and habit, as is often the case, but eventually this somewhat slow grower will need some space. In summer, white, round-cupped flowers, purportedly fragrant, festoon this handsome shrub. It is perhaps best to avoid hot afternoon sun unless your summers are cooler.
