A pretty, variegated, deciduous vine, it grows relatively slowly at first but is always lovely and takes off in a few years. Dark green heart-shaped leaves with yellow margins fade to cream as the summer progresses. Fuzzy, white, early summer lace cap flowers become shiny black fruit, and when not in leaf, the reddish, exfoliating stems of the climbing hydrangea are also interesting.
Notably, this Hydrangea manages everything from sunshine to shade, but optimum conditions might be part shade with little to no afternoon sun. From Japan.
