A southwestern California native sub-shrub with small, narrow foliage that flowers in late winter to summer with highly fragrant, bright yellow, penstemon or snapdragon-like blooms. Goes dormant in late July-August, like many of our western natives, and returns in full force each winter.

Grows best in full sun or part shade in WELL-DRAINED soil. Its native habitat is rocky ledges in chaparral. Low water in California, likely no supplemental summer water required in NW Oregon.

Mature size: 3-4 ft T x 4-6 ft W

Minimum temperature: 0º F
