Tubular reddish-pink flowers with a lip beard (!) appear in late spring. Nicely textured, rounded leaves are sharp at the tip. This classy, under-utilized and friendly nettle, is yet unpleasant for deer and they should turn up their noses and walk away from it. Surprising drought-tolerance has been shown once established.
