Neillia sinensis is a Chinese deciduous shrub with foliage resembling a Rubus. The new foliage offers attractive purple-bronze hues before transitioning to green. The early summer blooms are 2-3 inch dangling clusters in shades of pink.
Best grown for foliage and prolific blooms in full sun with regular water. In our PNW hot dry summers, it prefers partial shade in the late afternoon and weekly water. It does not seem to mind our heavy clay if on a slope but will not tolerate being waterlogged.
